Planning and implementation of training programs with the intension of developing knowledge, attitudes and skills of the new officers recruited to various posts and ranks of the Excise Department of Sri Lanka and upgrading the professional standards of the Excise Officers in service is the pivotal role of the Excise College of Sri Lanka. Excise College of Sri Lanka plans and conducts training courses related to recruitments for the posts Excise Inspector, Excise Guard and Excise Driver and in service training courses required for the Staff Officers, Officers and other ranks.Trainees passing out from the Excise College of Sri Lanka having successfully completed the training course are attached to the Excise Head Office and Excise Stations, Special Operation Bureaus and Divisional Offices located island wide subsequent to a passing out ceremony which consists of a ceremonial parade.
In addition to above training courses, numerous courses are conducted by the Excise College under selected subject fields in order to meet annual training requirements of the Departmental Officers with the participation of internal and external resource persons.
The tasks of planning modern and qualitative training courses taking the departmental training requirements into consideration in combination with the Human Resources Division of the Department and implementation of training courses in coordination with distinguished panel of lecturers consisting of internal and external resource persons are carried out by the Excise College of Sri Lanka.
